The Jones Wrestling Philosophy - West Tulsa Roots
At the core of the Jones Wrestling philosophy is one unwavering belief: Hard work conquers all. Labor Omnia Vincit.
West Tulsa is a community built on resilience. Shaped first by the railroad and later transformed by the oil boom, it became home to generations of working-class families known for their self-respect, solidarity, and grit. These families endured demanding, often underappreciated labor while navigating economic and social challenges with a strong sense of purpose and an unshakable commitment to each other.
It was in this environment that wrestling took root and thrived. More than just a sport, wrestling became a way of life—woven into the identity of West Tulsa. It mirrored the very traits that defined its people: responsibility, accountability, ownership, discipline, pride, and perseverance.
Wrestling is a working-class sport. It rewards grit, consistent effort, and a relentless pursuit of excellence—values forged in the heart of West Tulsa. The families who built this side of the city understood what it meant to show up, work hard, and never back down. These values remain central to the Jones Wrestling tradition.
The Jones Family takes immense pride in their West Tulsa roots and the blue-collar mentality that shaped them. That same mentality has propelled the Jones Family to become the most successful wrestling coaching family in the state of Oklahoma—producing 128 individual high school state champions and 20 team state championships.
