Coach Rodney Jones is going into his 17th season coaching wrestling at Broken Arrow High School. This was Coach Rods second year as the Head Coach after serving as an assistant coach for 15 years. During his time at Broken Arrow, the Tigers have won 5 Dual State Championships and 6 Team State Championships crowning 39 Individual State Champions.

Before arriving at BA Coach Rod spent 1 year coaching/teaching at Mustang HS in Mustang, OK. At Mustang he helped lead the Broncos to a 5th place finish at the State tournament placing 3 wrestlers with one State Champion.

Coach Rod graduated from Tulsa Webster High School in 1994, where he wrestled for his father Ernie Jones. At Webster, Coach Rod went undefeated his senior year winning the State Championship at 135 pounds and was named a High School All-American. The Tulsa Webster team won back-to-back Dual and Team State Championships in 1993-1994. The 1994 team finished the season ranked nationally.

After high school, Coach Rod attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a four-year starter at OU finishing his last three seasons as an All-American. In 1999 the Sooners won the Big 12 Wrestling Championship and Coach Rod finished as the NCAA Finalist that season at 165 pounds. Coach Rod graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree.

After his senior season Coach Rod joined the OU coaching staff serving as a volunteer coach for one year then as an assistant coach for 4 years. From 2000-2004 the Sooners had 21 NCAA All-Americans and 4 NCAA Champions. The Sooner teams had finishes at the NCAA tournaments of 4th, 4th, 3rd, 3rd, and 9th from 2000-2004. The 2002 Sooner team won the Big 12 Championship and had 6 NCAA AllAmericans.

The Jones family (J4) has been hosting a youth wrestling camp in Tulsa since 2000. In 2019 the camp moved to Broken Arrow and had over 100 kids last year. Coach Rod has been directing and coaching J4 Wrestling Club, a chartered USA Wrestling Club for 6 years. In 2019 J4 Wrestling Club was the OKUSA FS/GR State Champions.

Coach Rod is married to Alexandria and has 2 daughters (Tallulah and Charlie). Coach Rod spends his free time with his family and does a number of different wrestling camps and clinics throughout the year.
